Quickie: Uphill assist on fc?
I have noticed on my '89 Vert that when stopped... if I let off the brake, I dont often roll at all when I am facing uphill... but when I am facing downhill th car rolls very easily.
Did mazda build in any kind of uphill assist into the driveline on these or do i have something wrong...
rolls forward easy, rolls backwards less easily.
on very slight angles, rolls forward easy, doesnt roll back on it's own

I assume this is a manual transmission? If so, just be faster off the brake and onto the clutch. 
Or use the parking brake to hold the car while you switch feet...
There was never any kind of "uphill assist" or other useless driver aids on these cars.

Ah, I see...That's very strange...Any weird noises from the transmission area? If I had to guess I would say that the clutch isn't totally disengaging or you have a dragging pilot bearing...

I'd vote the dragging pilot bearing. They're not hard to break.
On my car the only uphill assist I have is a big *** turbo......It makes me go up the hill faster.

the clutch is only 13k old, as is the entire long block. everything else has about 140k on it.
the BRAKE light IS on though.
the handbrake has to be cranked pretty hard to get it to grab well.
and it does it whether I am in neutral or not, so I dont think it is a clutch thing ( it engauges pretty high off the floor)
the main brakes DO need replacing soon. pads and rotors are pretty worn and squeeky right now. and I have noticed that sometimes coming to a stop the branke pedal will sing alot lower.
I guess I will have to get some new pads/rotors and drain the fluid and make sure my soft lines are alright pretty soon.
I noticed it mainly in my garage which is at an upward slant. when I pull in forward I dont roll back, but when I back in it will roll down if I dont handbrake it
