quick timing question

i did a search and found some things.. but i just need something cleared up. If i am standing at the front of the car looking down into the engine bay . and i have the timing light set up in L1. Do i want the pin to line up with the mark on the left of the right?? i dont have colors on mine (faded off or something) and i have timed the car. and when i do it the 2nd mark ( the one on the right ) is just about lined up with pin . is this right ?? or do i need to up the timing to the mark on the left ???

Yea, the leading will fire on the "leading" mark, as the eshaft rotates.

It's fairly easy to tell - if L1 lines up with a mark, and T1 lines up with a mark, you're good. If L1 lines up with a mark, and T1 is WAY off in left field, you're probably 15 degrees retarded.

Yeh, what inflatable said...Get some acetone or other good solvent & clean the dirt off of the tick marks on the pulley, there should be yellow on the right, and red on the left marks...Line up the yellow at 750 rpm's with the CAS (if needed)

Why? As long as the CAS doesn't move, the timing shouldn't change.
