Quick question: S4 TII rotor housings
So on the exhaust side of the S4 TII rotor housings, there are two holes above each of the bottom two studs for the exhaust/turbo manifold. They are blocked off by the gasket + exhaust manifold.
What are they for??

Well, I was going to include in my post above that I removed the ACV quite some time ago. So, no...
I was just curious if those port need to be free (Or as they are, I should say.)

Good.
I'm going to tap one. Call me crazy, but I no longer have a choice. The front/lower stud is broken off in the engine, and there is absolutely nothing sticking out. It is actually inside about a 1/4". EZ-out was a complete waste of life. All of the cobalt bits I have used are done for, even using oil. I have tried penetrating oil and heat. Welding another stud onto the broken stud didn't work, and then trying to weld a nut on the outside of something that isn't even sticking out is impossible. (Tried it anyway.) - Of the two holes above that broken stud, the one on the right will be ideal. I'll have to drill another hole on the exhaust manifold... That's the least of my worries.
Thanks everyone.

Easy outs are the biggest waste of time on earth, they never work and always make your life more difficult. Just drill it out and be done with it ....in the future.

Yeah, the "EZ-out" actually fucked me. I don't even know why they still make them... I've heard nothing of any success with them.
I tapped the ACV port air hole furthest to the right. 1/2" stud in there now. Drilling through the manifold was actually pretty easy with a drill press. Everything worked out well.

well i guess it works but in the future i just drill the stud in steps until i can tap it out to the original size of the threads.
easy outs rarely work for this particular issue because the stud generally siezes. easy outs do not work for siezed bolts, they are only for broken bolts that are still moving freely.

...which basically makes them useless, because if the bolt is moving freely there are far "easier" methods of removing it.
Glad everything worked out.

well, i consider them worse than useless most of the time because many times they break and are extremely difficult to drill through or extract the broken piece, leaving you much further behind than you originally were.
