Quick Question: Power Windows

Ok, I finally got around to trying to fix my damn passenger power window. Well before I figured it was the motor on the passanger side that wasn't working, because niether the drivers side or passenger side switches would open it. Well, I took the door panel off and reconnected the switch, and tried to make the window move. When I pressed it to go down, nothing would happen, but when I would try to pull it up, I could hear the motor clicking like it was trying to go. So that got me to thinking is it the window or the switches that are broken? Well, I went to kragen and got myself some contact cleaner and tried to clean off the contacts inside the switches. It seemed to work a little bit, but I think the contacts may be a little too corroded (sp?) to be able to fix. Well being the idiot that I am, I was working in the garage and when I was trying to put the switch back together one of those damn springs flew out and I can't find it anywhere. So I am temporarily without a passanger side window switch, until I go buy another spring.

Anyway, heres my questions.
1)Is it very likely that both the drivers side and passanger side switches were dirty enough to be the cause of the problem?

2)If it were working correctly, would the drivers side switch be able to power the passenger window without the passenger window switch plugged in?

3)Does the drivers side switch have to have good contacts for the passengers side to work (i.e. does the current flow through the drivers side then out to the passengers side)?

4)Where can I get a replacement switch that doesn't cost $1,000,000 like the dealer is charging?

Sorry it wasn't really a "quick" question, but I just wanna find out some answers before I go hacking away at my car.

No it wouldn't go down using driver's side if the wiring wasn't connected on the pass side.

I believe Mazdatrix has a New replacement or you can get a used one off ebay.

im pretty sure my switches are problematic, but what would be the major cause of uneven travel when either the pass or drivers side window clunks on its way down. (you know, like drops, stops, drops, instead of a nice smooth going down)

Mine does that. Uneven travel up and down. There are little white plastic gear like things with teeth and one of the teeth are snapped on mine. Haven't gotten around to getting a replacement because I'm lazy.

Question

Important question:

Is your Rex a Vert or coupe? They have different window regulators and issues.
