Quick question

i have an 88gxl and i was looking into a turbo ii swap eventually but until that day comes ima need to find a decent motor cuz this ones on the way out. my question is could i use an automatic motor in my manual....the redline is like a 1000 lower but what i wanna know is can that motor actually rev up all the way if i use a manual trans ecu? is the motor what limits the rpm or is it the auto trans? if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

The tranny is what lowered the redline. All non-turbo engines were identical (excpet for the flywheel/flexplate) within the series.

cool, i figure that way the motor has never been brought to the full redline its capable of. so if i find one with low mileage it won't even have the chance of being abused.

Probably a good guess.

Good luck.
