Quick exhaust leak questions?

I think I have an exhaust leak at the Y and midway on my left tailpipe.
I'm not for sure if I'm checking for them right because I want to pinpoint the leaks.
The one at the Y is visible but the one on the left tail pipe isn't; I noticed smoke coming out of it the other day though.
Any advice on finding exactly where they are coming from ?
Oh; and what are the effects an exhaust leak has on a rotary engine ?
If it would fix my idle; that would be super.

have you lifted up the car and turned it on to see where the leak is? you can spray something like wd-40 and see where the air makes bubbles or it gets blown away.

exhaust leaks cause power loss.

as far as the exhaust leak fixing the idle, i have no idea.

If you have a shop vac use the blower side of it and attach it to the end of your tailpipe with some duct tape. With the car off turn on the shop vac and spray wd40 around the area where you think the leak is and find the bubbles. Hope this helps.

I don't have a shop vac but you said the blower side so could I not try that with a leaf blower ?
My exhaust was done by a guy in Illinois and it is still under warranty so I can get it fixed for free, but I just want to see how big the leaks are before I drive three hours to get it fixed.

Sure, leaf blower or compressed air. Anything you can rig up to the end of the tailpipe.
