it's probably the switch itself. If you've got one, try replacing the unit with a known-good example. If not, the FSM has a good testing procedure...

Okay. First unplug the motor.

If you Jump the window motor wires at the window (momentarly take one wire to ground, the other to 12volts) does the motor move?

If you reverse the two wires does the motor move?

If it does then the motor is fine. If it doesn't then the motor is bad.

If the motor is good, chances are the switch is bad.

next thing to check will require you to have a multi-meter. Turn the key to the on position in the ignition.

On the two drivers door power window motor wires (Red/Black and Green/Black) still with the motor unplugged, are the two wires resting at ground? Common with the Black wire at the switch?

They should be on both.

The Black wire at the switch also should be at ground. If it is not then the switch ground is bad and will need to be fixed.

Now when you flip the switch to "up" the Red/Black should go hot (go to 12volts). Now flip the switch to down, the Green/Black should go hot.

If one or both do not you have a bad switch, repair or replace.

For the time it takes it is just as easy to dismantle the switch and clean all the contacts with fine emery cloth. The contacts are notorious for getting dirty.

in order to dismantle the switch, do you need certain skills to do so, or is it so easy that anyone can do it.
