Question - How much is a 91 Turbo2 worth realistically?
I hope it's okay to post this question here, I'm curious how much a 91 TII is worth.
I haven't seen much, or any 1991 Turbo 2's for sale lately, and was wondering how much it's worth/how much people would really pay for one in mint condition.
Hypothetically, if Engine's been rebuilt recently, and interior/exterior is mint..
How many 91 TII's were sold in the US?
I understand it's a vague question bc I don't know any specifics, but a general price range for a mint condition with a rebuilt engine 1991 TII because of rarity? I say rebuilt because most over 100k on a TII have been rebuilt so.. just an assumption
Looking for one for someone, and I don't know what to expect one would pay. I hope you guys can help out from experience/time on this board...
Thanks.

Stock? If it's absolutely mint, and had good paint, I'd say around $7-8k. Most likely the person who would buy it would be out of state, and would have it shipped, so you'd have to put up with that. 2nd gens in general are recently ridicously priced nowadays. GTUi going for $5k, TIIs going for a couple k more. These are 13 year old cars, I don't get it. I think $7-8k is what you could expect though, perhaps even more if you find an enthusiast with a lot of money to burn.

The trick is to be resourceful & patient. There was a nice one in Tampa last month for $5K. It had 77K miles, exhaust & fuel mods, & a quality paint job.
While driving around one day I spotted one with 81K miles that had been parked for many months. I talked to the owner & there were many small things broken. I estimated that a shop would charge $2K-$4K to fix it up to good condition. We eventually settled at $2500. I have spent $1500 in parts & 60 hours labor to restore it. The only down side is the back tires are not going to last :-)

there will always be somone that is willing to pay top dollar for the nicest car out there.
the problem is most people get teh prosche syndrome. and automaticly think since its a (insert car of choise here) it's worth a lot of money. nevermind that it's got 100k+, paint is faded, wheels are curbed, motor is not as strong as it once was, tires are dry rotted, I could go on, you get the point.

Based on national prices, good to excellent condition, 100K miles:
Dealer trade in: $3,800
Private party:$4,610
Dealer: $5,960
Add about $250 if the car is in California, Subtract $150 for each 10K miles over 100K.
And they were not called the Turbo II in 91, the were called simply the Turbo.

I've looked at RX-7 prices lately around my area, and it's gotten crazy lately, and I don't know why.
When I was shopping for mine, about 8 or 9 months ago, I had a hard time finding one, the best I could find was a 91 that was a good 4 hour drive away for 5k with 120,000 miles. Yay. Then I accidentally found one in my back yard, another 91 with a new paint job...and get this... a NEW engine that only had 15k miles on it, with all the paperwork to back it up. The guy wanted $5000, I talked him down to $4500, and that seemed to be overpaying compared to most of the stuff I had looked at online.
I did a search just recently, and RX7's that aren't as good as mine are pulling in 7 and 8 thousands now, although there are a LOT of them being sold locally. I have no clue why, but I'm hugging my cheaper car now, despite the fact that the "new" paint job apparently was the $199 maaco special, it's already starting to chip and peel...

I paid ~6300 for mine, one owner, ~74K miles, all records, perfect interior, good paint but some door dings.

I picked mine up from the dealer with ~151,000KM for $10,000 CDN
rebuilt turbos, bone stock, dealer serviced since day 1, original owner, mid-40 year old white guy
mint condition minus wear on driver seat (leather) & minor rock chips & 1 or 2 shopping car dings
With current exchange rates, that works out to ~$7600USD & ~80,000miles
that was a year ago

And just for the info, there was no GXL model in 91. Just the coupe with an option package.

And I do doubt that any car with 100K plus could ever be considered mint, unless the whole car was stripped apart and every soft part has been replaced with Factory fresh brand new parts.
Pretty rare to find a truely mint vehicle.

I have a 1991 Convertible, red, with 63,000 original. Purchased from original owner in Santa Monica for $6000 two months ago after looking for about a year. Runs and looks new. I'm very happy!

thanks for all the cool info.
Why did they rename from Turbo II to just Turbo in 91? and I read somewhere a little less than 7k 91's sold, any idea how many were turbo's then?
Sureshot, nice 91T

I paid a premium for mine due to the rarer color brave blue (midnight blue). $7500 with reman / low miles engine included. I've put $1000 into parts replacements and $300 into leather interior. That includes a new hatch-cover from Japan.
Still needs new motor & tranny mounts, non-squeeking clutch, plus a good allignment.
I REALLY REALLY tried to buy a 1991 TII in Mica Blue (medium blue) which is the rarest TII paint color. It got sold before I could fly out & buy it.
