question about TIIs...(kinda noobish, please bear with me)

hello,

i am planning on picking up a fixer upper FC (specifically one with no engine, or at least a blown one) this summer, and am set on a TII. now i just cant narrow down my options which are...

1) pick up a S4 TII, and replace with S4 13B-T

2) pick up said S4 TII, and replace with S5 13B-T (is it really worth going with this engine for 18 more hp? and from what i gather it's not too rough to put it in the S4. yeahhhh search worked for me on that one )

or...

3) hold out, pick up an S5 TII and replace with S5 13B-T engine without drama

any advice is more than welcome, and i appologize if this could be found searching. thanks everyone for the input.

Sounds like riceReasons to me...

I say S4 since they are lighter, cheaper, and more readily available.

I have an S4 with a S5 engine btw...

I'd go with a lighter S4 and piece together a new motor with the good qualities of both engines. The S5 irons are stronger, but the lower comp S4 rotors are desired in high boost engines. The S5 turbo and manifold is far superior than it's predecessor, and it's a perfect candidate for a T04 hybrid. If you are going to use the factory MOP, use the S4(you'll need the S4 front cover in this case), disregard this if you are using a stand alone EMS.

This way you get the lighter car with the better motor. The entire S5 engine can be installed in the S4 but there are complications, ECU, MOP, injectors, to name a few. If you plan on going with a stand alone EMS, there are far less complications, obviously, but the cost becomes a factor and I don't know your budget.

In the end, you may spend more this way, but you'll have a faster car, if that's what you want, than if you had bought and rebuilt an S5. AND, you can always buy the pretty taillights and front nose piece .

thank you, it's almost finished, and once that happens, i'm not gonna stop, which is why i want a rex. was gonna dump tons into the sup, but i'll just take my supra reliable, thanks =) i've seen FCs with blown or no engine and good bodies for around 1k some less, which caught my eye immediately. then i just lurked around here for a little, and the FC grew on me pretty quick (looks and all around).

i would say get an s5 i held out for awhile and picked up a nice s5 with 140k miles on the body.... anyways i like the S5 a little better due to minor things Instrument cluster, tails, paint matched body trim. also if i am correct usually the s4 LSD's **** a brick and stop working after like 100k miles im not sure on this one though thats what i heard. There are also more readily availible parts for the s5 motor, although anything that can fit an s5 can also fit an s4 with minor mods...

Personally i didnt wanna get an s4 motor due to the fact that the irons are weaker, heavier rotors and flywheel.... but look what i ended up with check my sig, sorry if im just rambling on but anyways, if you look at it this way.... if you dont care about looks and you like to modify stuff get and go fast S4 , if you like looks and dont mind shelling out a few extra dallors for the car buy and S5, but no matter what your still gonna have an FC and when you whoop someone you can just say... yeah its a 1.3
