question about porting on TII

i have an s4 w/ jspec s5 engine swap, and i am going to leave it stock for a while (aside from the exhaust, which i refuse to buy new from the dealership) and start building a good engine

anyways what i wanted to know is how much power is being put through the stock ports on TII's, and how much is safe. from what i have read it seems like you always loose low-end power when you port, well i would like to keep some low end power, but is my high end going to suffer pretty bad if i stay with stock ports.

if so what is the order of port sizes from smallest to largest, i know there is street, bridge, periph, what else is out there, and what are the wrest of the turbo guys running, ie what is safe with turbos

my goal is to hit around the 400hp mark eventually, i dont think i will need much more than that, but maybe if someone could even post how much HP is achievable on different ports, that would be superb,

sry for wasting your time once again

i would talk to your engine builder. There are LOTS of different sized, street ports. What some may consider good for street, others may say it's mild. Personally I have a pretty agressive street port as i pull about 10-12" of vacuum @ 1k RPM's. some pull more. I don't mind the loping, and dig the agressiveness. A well matched turbo will take care of your low end TQ issues. You may also consider opening up just the intake side. There are a lot of options, and most are based upon personal taste. Porting, however is not an exact science on a rotary, since it's all done by hand.

The main thing to remember when porting and using a stock ecu....don't go to large or you'll have to much overlap and the stock ecu can't read that and your motor will run like ****...... also, don't use Racing Beat or Mazda Trix porting templates, according to my Puerto Rican source there only for N/A's and suck for turbo applications... I got mine from MEX-TEC in PR......
