Question about oem rubber ground effects

i picked up a set of the s4 rubber mudflaps from an 87 slicktop in the junkyard today. my cars black with new paint from the doors back( insurance whoas) i was wondering what would adhere to these little things. i know paint doesnt cuz the car i pulled it off of must of had a shitty repaint, and even shittier tape up...paint just comes right off. if i cant get any info im thinking maybe throw some fiberglass over it (not the whole deal just the part thats visible) and sand it and paint it. i dont want to screw em up...but if i do i only paid 5 bucks for em. ill try it in a nonvisible spot first if none can tell me different.

my other question is...what type of adhesive/ sealant is good to use for the mounting...other than the bolts that go on it.

thanks

almost forgot..the car also had a really nice looking tail/wing(the more laid back rubber style) with a 1 inch chunk missing...if there was a way to re-beautify this material it might make it worth my while to go back and buy the wing too.

again

thanks

Normally 3M automotive trim mounting foam tape would be used for most things like that, but the Factory aero kits attach with screws into the factory spots

Looks like you are doing the same thing as me. I just got done putting my on. I used this stuff you get at your local Wal-Mart its is a spray on for your bumpers that actually adheres to the mud flaps. (they look great when done and the paint sticks on.) it is not normal spray paint. I used a BRILO pad to clean them all up. and then put about 2-3 coats of the bumeper paint on. You got a steal on those. I paid 40.00 for mine and one was cracked when recieced the guy never told me that. oh well. Then use black metal screws to put them on. (you have to drill the fenders to attach) good luck.

my stock rubber ground effects.....(i dont really like calling them that as im not sure if it is the proper term or not.....)
on the front right just infront of the tire, is hangin down....is it cool to just use some of that super epoxy **** on it or what....it looks like it has fallen before and the previous owner hand some wire holding it up there....i was told to just clean the area and epoxy it back up there.....is this a good idea....or is there a better approach.....
thanks

The front ones normally have a clip that is moulded into the outside edge. That then clips into the screw holes that the non-aero/ground effect equipped trim screws into.
