Question about O2 pump removal

So I had to have my 87 turbo II smogged for registration, which I am about to have taken care of. I have a new cat in there right now, and after I get the smog and new registration I was thinking about gutting my old cat and putting that back in. It is a easy swap cause my cat is flanged already so its a bolt in. I would like to put the old gutted one back in and remove my O2 pump, so I have a good cat available for the next smog I need without buying a new one. What would I have to do with the pulley assembly when removing the O2 pump? Is there any kind of kit available for this procedure, like a bolt on idler pulley/ tensioner? Also will this cause any kind of problems for the rest of the exhaust system, like the turbo or mufflers? In case any one was wondering the motor is a rebuilt with about 5000 miles on it at the moment, and no major oil leaks and runs well.

thanks for any answers.

If you take the smog pump off get a double pulley for the alt belt. I'm not sure if it will effect any other smog equipment. If you just want to get rid of the tube going to the cat you can get a custom block off plate.

Ask yourself "what would I gain by removing the smog pump"?

You are basically going to be doing what I do to pass emmisions. I run the RB turboback with a bonz 3" cat for emmisons on both my cars. Then for the next two years I run it with the presilencer. Slowest part about the whole swap is waiting for the exhaust to cool down.

Anyway, you can go about it a couple of ways. First off you will need to get a block off pipe for the hose that goes to the cat. Its cheap and easy to do.
Get a double pully for your alt so that your waterpump doesn't slip and remove the air pump.
At this point you can either quit or you can pull the ACV My vert still hase the ACV hooked up my hardtop doesn't. I notice absoulutly nothing between the two. If you want to get a block off plate for the ACV they are cheap as well. But really just leave the thing. Its one less thing you have to put on next year for the emmissions crap again.

"What would I gain by removing the smog pump?" Nothing its all loss. A couple of pounds worth of pump and the loss of that "tractor" noise of the useless air coming out of the ACV(on some setups)
