Question about the 5th and 6th ports...

Hey guys,

I've been working on my Vert for quite a while now, and as of now I have some RB headers, Bonez Cat replacement pipe and then straight pipe to a SuperTrapp Muffler. The thing is, I took off the air pump, blocked off the ACV and EGR, did the TB mod, and wired the 5th and 6th ports open. ALL I SMELL IS GAS and the car won't idle!!! I mean it runs strong (and godawfully loud), but it doesn't feel very powerful in comparison to a stock SE I had... I was wondering if:

A) The fact that I don't have an air intake is hindering performance? (I know it is, but how much)-----Anyone have one for sale? :-)

B) I think one of the ports is too mucked up to work by air pressure (it was hard to open), so how would the car run if I just kept them closed?

Any input/suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, with your exhaust mods, you will definently benifit from intake...your car will be SIGNIFICANTLY slower with the 6-ports closed..better to just leave'em wired open.

It will have a bit more power down low with the ports closed, especially with a free flowing exhaust setup like yours. Once the engine revs up past about 4k you will REALLY notice a lack of power up top.

As for smelling gas, I would really check your fuel lines, and replace anything that looks old. Strong gas smells are EXTREMELY bad.
