question on an 88 vert
OK guys not sure if this has been asked before but sorry if it has. I have an 88 vert, but the ecu and engine is not the one that came in the car. i have been told that the ecu belongs to an 86-87.5, and i know the engine is to an 86-88. Am i going to need any fuel controllers, misc. equip like so or should it start up with little hesitation, I would try now but in the middle of a rebuild and i want to make sure everything is right before i get the engine back in. Thanks Richard

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
For 86-88 nonturbos, there are 2 ecus, n326 and 327. Bottom line, either one can be used in any 86-88 nonturbo, be it automatic, 5 speed, 86-87.5 or 87.5-88.
The difference between them is very little at most, supposedly mainly emissions changes.
When doing engine swaps or the like, you must pay attention to the injectors, wiring harness, and possible injector resistor pack. For more info, read here, near the bottom:

Basically, if you leave the engine together as a whole when you swap it (dont swap injectors, harnesses, etc.) it doesnt matter what ecu you run. When you start trying to swap harnesses or injectors, you can run into problems.
