Question
Will the removal of my bacv on the upper intake have any effect on the driveability of my car?? I haved searched the archives on emissions removal but have seen notthing about the removal of the bacv?? your information is appreciated
Honestly, I see no logical reason whay people should remove it unless it is broken or they have a standalone which can't support its use.
The BAC conpensates for engine electrical and mechanical loads by adjusting idle speed. It'll bump up the idle when it senses power steering or a/c loads, and some reported their engine stalling when coming to a stop or applying the clutch. It's good to keep the BAC.
The AWS uses the Air Bypass Solenoid (near the BAC) via a relay, sensors and ECU to boost cold start-up RPM's to 3000 for a few seconds, depending on temperature.
The Thermowax at the back of the TB (throttle body) is what controls the fast idle until the engine warms up, not the BAC as mentioned.
There are a lot of people here (not you necessarily) that start messing with a lot of stuff before they understand how the systems work and weigh the pros and cons of removal/modification. Yes, you can remove a lot of sh*t, but there isn't always enough justification to do so. People complain about the rats nest, when all you really need to do is replace the old hoses. Emissions removal that doesn't improve power (considerably) is a common hobby here. <rant=on> I have full sets of block-off plates I made out of 12ga. SS, so I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite, but I may just block off the Cold start assist injector and the EGR. I have the air pump, ACV and cat due to emissions testing (but the car is now exempt in my province because it's an 86), but I'm in no hurry to remove them.

Thanks for all the feedback.I am just trying to clean up my engine bay and as pfsantos made some block off plates. I just want to figure out how everything works before i go messing with it. thanks again for all your feedback
Helpful hint: Title your threads with something more meaningful like for example in this case: BAC Valve Removal. That way, you will get more response from people who can help with the specific question.
In any case, I don't think you want to remove the BAC valve, since that would likely result in stalling at stops and when extra electrical loads are turned on.
