question

my friend has a 12a. and it has cap and rotor for the distributor. he was wondering if it would work to put a 13b electrical distributor on it. and if so what would be the advatages would it give him more hp or not thanks

I dont think you will see a power gain just because you swap the distributors. Both do the same thing, they just do it by different methods. the electrical ones are more reliable generally, and they are more accurate, but I doubt that there would be any difference in #'s. Not even sure if it fits the 12A or not either

generally, DISs are better. more accurate and i believe create more power. dont know how to make it work, though.

There are only disadvantages to using a conventional dist with cap/rotor/wires, unless you are going with a carb route and wanted to remove the ECU.

yeh why do people put a carb on fuel injected car. it does not make sence to me. what is the advantage

a carb can make more power if tuned properly, but a carb is more finicky than EFI... EFI gives up the optimization of a carb for the ability to adapt.

Carb - tuning constantly
EFI - tune after changes made

As for the ignition thing, you might see power gains from a more accurate spark from the electronic ignition.
