Query about buying clutches.

I know theres a few threads on clutches going around atm, but i didn't wanna hijack them.

My question is simple, what comes in a clutch package? I'm getting a Exedy brass button clutch installed as i type this and am just wondering what is included? Clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel am i correct? Will it come with a new pilot bearing(thrust bearing?)?

Thanks guys.

In general, a clutch kit should include the pressure plate and clutch disk (friction plate). A lot of decent kits include the release bearing (that pushes on the pressure plate). Better kits will have the pilot bearing also (goes on the rear of the eccentric shaft to support the front of the input bearing). Almost all will not include the pilot bearing seal (to keep the grease in the pilot bearing.

Oh, the release bearing is a sealed unit, but the pilot bearing needs to be lubed. Flywheels are never part of the clutch kit. You want to ideally machine the flywheel just enough to give the clutch a good surface to wear into.

While you're at it, check the input shaft bearing and front seal if you have the engine out. If you have the tranny out, check the rear seal also. I'm starting to rant, but I keep remembering more...check the pivot ball where the clutch fork pivots, clutch fork, fingers and shaft where the release bearing slides. You can put in a TII clutch release bearing which I understand can be done and is a better part. That's all I can think of for now.

BTW, what's with your government giving out travel advisories about Canada being a dangerous place? JK.

Ahh the Canadian-french have been abit troubling lately haven't they?

Is it right to assume that a decent clutch shop would check all that stuff? My clutch was literally gone when i took it down, so i'm guessing they would do it right. The kit is the Exedy Heavy Duty Brass Button.

The second one down.

Clutch cover assembly, is that the pressure plate?

Looks like it. It also looks like it does not come with either of the bearings.

If it's not too late replace that stupid $8 piece that pushes the throwout bearing fork thing....my clutch was just dandy until that piece broke and I ended up having to drop the transmission again to replace it...some STUPID $8 piece hahaha

It looks like a little ball that pushes on the throwout bearing assembly.
