Q On rebuilt motor

I rebuilt my motor and installed it finally giot it running this weekend and i took it out for a drive i put about 105 miles on it and the cars acceleration is not good it take awhile to pick up. When i change into 5th gear it starts to slow down, even if i floor it it does do anything what could this be? Or is it like that because its a rebuild? And any suggestions on the accleration? For got to add that when im in 4th gear around 3500 rpm the car seems to hesitate for a litte then out of no where it just takes off what could that be?

take it easy and let it break in, at least 1000 miles. compression will have to build, that may be the cause of your woes, however it could be many more problems..... maybe the fuel filter / sock filter could be clogged.... cats could be clogged..... fuel pump.... etc...

Judging by your avatar, its a T2. I would make sure you dont have any boost leaks, the fuel filter is clean & fresh and your temps are good. You really don't want to be driving to crazy with only 105 miles on it, depending on your rebuild. Did you use new housings?

How is the idle?

Still, take it easy on it for a bit during break in. Hopefully you reused most parts the way to speak of driving it. New bearings would be hating you right now.

i dont think a compression check after 105 miles will do a whole lot.
my engine was pulling 14 hg" after the rebuild (this is on a LARGE streetport mind you) and by the time i finished the breakin (25xx miles) its pulling 19 at idle.

you just need to take it easy on the car for atleast 1000 miles and STAY OUT OF BOOST!

but like everyone else said, check your filters and fittings for boost leaks.

Boost comes on from load on the engine. So avoid the load by shifting early, use higher gears appropriately and just generally take it easy.

The 3800 RPM hesitation is probably not the issue - but you could still have a TPS issue and that's a good thing to check.

Compression tests on brand new engines are not always accurate as stated - the compression will build more as the engine is driven, but a lot of that depends on what parts you reused, etc.
