Purge Control Valve Question

Hi every one , I have a S4 -87 turbo. I been searching for days and I'm trying to understand how to hook up the purge valve. The Emission controls and the vacuum rack "rat nest" has been removed.

1) Do I need purge valve, if not what do I do with the nipple that at the center iron at the bottom of the oil filler neck do I just cap it off.

2) If I keep it the big hoses on the bottom of the valve go's to the center iron nipple at the bottom of oil filler neck is that right, Now the small hose on the bottom go to what nipple on the front of the upper intake the 2 or 3, and the top hose go to witch one, on the 1st nipple I have the switching actuator.

3) Now the small hose that go's to the turbo intake duct I have going to a tee and the oil filler neck top nipple is connected to that tee and then it go's to the big nipple on the charcoal can. Is that the right way.

Thanks Tony

If you removed your emissions equipment, you need to figure out a way to vent the crankcase.

1. Use a catch can. Cap iron nipple. Use oil filler nipple to catch can. vent catchcan to atmostphere. (easy, but not proper way of doing things as you aren't really removing pressure and waste, only relieving it)

2. Use the following links. One has the color vacuum diagram. Use the color vacuum diagram for S5 T2 (i couldn't find one in my brief search for S4 T2), follow the PCV hoses in the diagram to the appropriate ports.

Basically, on the PCV. The top nipple goes to to vacuum which activates as THROTTLE increases (there is a port on the TB for that.

Lower big nipple on PCV, to iron. Smaller lower nipple, to full time vacuum. ****Forgot to add. The nipple on the oil filler will get FRESH METERED air (after the AFM).

How PCV works: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=vacuum

S5 T2 Diagram: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...vacuum+diagram

Catchcan Setup (Properly): https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ighlight=catch

If you have the S4 T2 FSM, open it up and use the above information to guide you.

Cut all the foreplay and just make it simple. The OEM purge valve is a bit weird so I don't use it.

Set up your catch can with the filter port connected after your AFM.

The top nipple on the oil filler neck goes through a one way check valve to a vacuum port on the intake so that the intake manifold can suck air through it.

The bottom nipple goes through a nice thick hose to the catch can.

Done and done.

If you don't have a catch can, the bottom nipple goes to a nipple on the intake tube after the AFM.

You may need to turn the idle down just a bit after doing this, as the purge system is now sucking more air into the intake.

T the charcoal canister into the top nipple of the oil filler between the filler neck and the check valve.
