purchasing motor off of Ebay??

do any of you have experiance on buying a motor off of Ebay?
I am looking into a few different ideas, I can get one that is used, 30K miles $550
or I can get another for 950 w/the turbo and has some sort of warrenty on it.

or should I have RR rebuild mine?
I kinda want to keep my old one to tear apart and learn more about it, maybe get into rebuilding it.

any suggestions???

thanks

I personally would never trust anything I bought off Ebay, unless it was from a name that you know and trust (Ive seen pineapple as well as Atkins sell engines on Ebay once in a while..) For the $950 you would spend on the Ebay engine, you could have Kevin build you an engine that you know will run right, and know the history of, for maybe only a few hundred more. I personally have sold numerous engines on Ebay, and I am kind of suprised how much trust people put in a seller that they know nothing about. Not that I would try and rip anyone off...but you never know.

ya.. well thank you, I have Kevins site as my home page as to not forget he can rebuild my motor and for a good price.

so would it be true that if a motor sits in a front clip for some time it becomes junk due to rust and deteriorating seals?
I am on a limited buget and I an trying to find the best wat to get my car back on the road.

Not necessarily...depends alot on the conditions the engine is in, etc. It is possible though, but hard to say for sure. Ive installed a 13B into a friends GSL-SE that had been out for over 3 years, although the owner did lubricate it and turn by hand weekly. It fired up almost immediatly, and ran like a champ.
