Pull/Installing Engine - UIM?

The mounting hoops to lift the engine are all on the UIM and associated brackets. But the injector plugs are all buried under the UIM. So when yall pull the engine do you typically pull the UIM off to unplug everything and then put it back on to pull it out?

And same for putting the engine in? Install the UIM sans gasket and then pull it off to wire things up and then put the UIM in with gasket?

I've read several of the swap threads and never saw any reference to this part of the sequence.

THanks

That's what I did but I think most people pull the plug on the ecu and pull the harness with the engine

Ok, cool. I couldnt imagine how I'd get my hands in there to plug in the injectors!

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

When I pulled mine off last weekend me and my buddy pulled everything off the motor and ended up wrapping a chain around the block a couple times to secure it and pulled it out with the hoist. Makes it much much easier to do, but you pretty much have to take everything off the motors first.

There's like 2-3 plugs inside the kickpanel, much easier to push them out the firewall and pull it whole.

Pull the harness out of the cabin.... it's much easier.

Not to mention you can inspect your harness while the engine is out of the car.

Ah, so unplug the harness from the cabin, (do a lot of other disconnects), pull the engine. Move the harness to the new engine. Put on UIM (and a lot of other stuff), and drop that puppy in. Plug in the harness.

Thanks a bunch. makes sense.
