Pros&Cons 2 brake dust shield removal?

Aside from the obvious, like better cooling and very slight weight reduction . Are there any downsides to removal ? I have an s4 with vented/slotted rotors and am thinking about doing the removal to help further cool the rotors . Does anyone have any input ?

if you dont mind oil/road debris/water from puddles getting all over the back of your rotors sure.... unfortunately you will notice virtually no difference in cooling by removing the splash guards... if you are really **** about cooling then you could bend them away from the rotor a bit or cut a scoop into them like old supras.... as far as weight goes they weigh about as much as a cell phone so there isnt much gain there

In order to actually remove the rears (without cutting them) you need to press out the rear bearings and change them.

Awful lot of work for something that will:

a) do diddly-****-all
b) do diddly-****-all
c)................................................ .........?

Its your car though

You Will notice the CON in removing your Brake shields.Once you get some small Pebbles in between the pad and the Caliper and it Wears the **** out of Both the Pad and the Rotor.you want Weight Reduction..Cut off your Head!.(j/k..it's funny though!)

You might get excessive brake dust on your rims, but to solve that you could always go with ceramic pads; which are better performance wise, quieter, and almost no brake dust.
