product report: cheap headlight upgrade
product report: cheap headlight upgrade
I just bought a pair of GE high-output sealed-beam halogens and am VERY pleased. They produce about 80 percent more light on LOW beams. And the price was right -- about $18 for the pair at Wal-Mart.
Wagner also sells a similar light.
The light is only slightly whiter than an ordinary light (not the bluish-white of some of the cool new lights), but there's a lot more light on the road and it also casts a slightly wider beam, which makes it easier for middle-aged guys (ie me) to read streets signs.
I had the headlights aimed just to be sure I wasn't blinding anybody. But this is a nice alternative to a set of Hellas, which I'm sure are better, but also cost a lot more.
