Problems with my rebuilt/vert
Hey guys I have a 88 vert and having some problems with it. I currently have 4000 miles on my rebuilt streetported engine. Problem is that its consuming ALOT of oil. I changed the oil about a week ago and drove about 500-1000 miles and it was smoking today and checked the oil and it was low. Also gas is some how mixing with the oil and its burning rich. What could cause my car to burn so much oil, let gas mix with it and burn so rich? When it smokes its a gas smelling smoke, black (gas smoke). Im stumped on this one. Im also running a straight pipe and I know my mufflers are bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I had a streetport in my NA and its smoked all of a sudden, after about 3000 miles. I rebuilt it and put an oil control ring in backwards. It smoke really bad at idle, well thats when I could see it the best. I noticed in a wendys drive thru.
Id try disable the OMP and see it that thing is stuck full open, not likely. They sorry to say, but your gonna have to tear the engine apart. Luckly the overhaul kit is cheap. Labor is minimal and you can double check the quality of the rebuild.
