problems after messing with stereo

So I took out the old clarion deck and I haven't been able to successfully power on a slightly newer alpine head unit. Now my dash clock resets every time I start the car and the interior lights arent working...and who knows what else. Oh yea, my car shuts off when I stop once in a while and acts like the battery is dead for about a minute. Then it starts up like nothings wrong.

Then in the FAQ I read this:

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

So how much damage did I do? Do I need to replace anything or is this just a bunch of blown fuses?

just change your ground source from that wire to an actual chassis ground and see if your symptoms dissappear. If they do, problem solved. If not... hailers? lol
