Unhappy problems

I just installed a S5 T2 motor into my 7, but i just cant get it to start. Ive got spark, fuel pressure, and good compression, but the injectors arnt working. When i crank it over and press on the gas, i still get nothing, and i cant smell any gas fumes from the exhaust either. anyone know what the problem could be?

also, the grounding wire from the firewall to the bellhousing was getting hot and started smoking when i tried to start it until i replaced it with an 8 guage wire.

CAS is the same on all 2nd gen 13B rotary engines. I think the ECU retards the timing under boost. I'm not sure if the N/A ignition coils are the same as TII but I suspect that they are.

Mazdatrix lists the same coils for NA and turbo, so I think they're the same.

A ground wire started smoking but no fuses are popped? (did you check them all) Will an ECU control spark without firing injectors?

I wouldn't recomend replacing a wire with a heavier gauge wire. I would find out why the wire started smoking. Sounds like a short or possibly a wire was hooked up to the wrong terminal or grounded when its not supposed to be.

How complete was the TII engine? Are you using the harness that came with the engine or adapting your NA harness? Just some ideas

im using a used US spec T2 harness and ECU. Maybe the injectors are gummed up or something? The motor has been sitting for while.

I'll bet there is a problem with the battery to starter mount ground.
If it is not perfect, the firewall (accessory ground) tries to carry the full load of cranking.

okay, i found the problem with the wire getting hot, the ground from the battery to the engine wasnt even connected(DOH!!) so i bolted that on, now the other wire doesnt get hot, but it still doesnt start. i primed the fuel system and everything, but i dont think the injectors are working.

how do you know you have fuel pressure? I would check to make sure the fuel lines are hooked up to the right rails. the J-spec ones are reversed to the US ones. common problem to put them the wrong way.

well, i took my injectors out, and there was definatly fuel in both rails, so im pretty sure ive got fuel pressure, but i hooked up the two fuel lines in the same order they were on my N/A engine. Would that really make a differnce? also, the injectors werent spraying any fuel when i cranked it over, is there any way i can test them or clean them while i have them out?

jeez, not many people posting tonight. i have a walbro 255, and when i prime the system, i can hear it very clearly, but when i turn the key on, i cant hear it at all, but i hear a slight humming sound coming from the engine, is it supposed to be running when i turn the key on?

So the engine turns over but does start? Did you put the CAS in yourself and verify the timing is correct? Some times when you line the marks up on the body of the CAS, you should mark the inside to and watch to see it turn when you put it in. If it turns, line the marks you made on the inside so you know the marks on the outside are lined back up. Sometimes the CAS will turn when you install it because the gear it meshes with is a bevel gear, which means it has slanted teeth. The CAS has straight teeth on the gear and one of them has to move to mesh. The crank isn't going to turn, so the CAS has to. Just an observation that I've made from trial and error.

SWEET, i got it running, it turns out the used wiring harness that i got had extensions on one of the injector grommets, and they didnt splice them very good, and the wires were touching each other. they were coverd in a crapload of electrical tape, so i respliced them, tubed them, and then it started up!

okay, im having a few more problems. It revs really slow, and i have really crappy throttle response, it doesnt rev nearly as quickly as my N/A did, even though im still using the same 9.5 lb flywheel. Im also getting a weird clicking sound from my tranny, i think. I aligned the clutch perfectly before i put it in, and didnt force the engine on the tranny. The oil pressure guage maxes out as soon as i turn the key on, so i think its broken. Where is the sensor located?
