problem with deceleration....

i've had a wierd idle problem for a while now and heres the problem ever since....

if im cruising in 5th gear and give it gas at 2,500-3,000 rpms,,,it the car shakes violently and and feels stuttery until I hit 3k exactly..... It feels like you do if you were going 10 mph, and tried to give it gas in 4th or 5th gear....

And recentrly, if i just let my foot off the gas and let the engine slow me down, as soon as it gets under 3k exactly , it starts stuttering and bucking until you give it gas again.......

And evertime I let off the gas, my check engine light comes on, I give it a little gas, the check engine goes off.....basically, if my foots off the gas, the check engine light comes on....I havent got around to seeing what code was in it. I heard you could just put a wire from the jumper to the negative termincal and you could see the codes blink, but that didn't work.....

Any ideas on what the problems may be........ Its something that happens right at 3k, its exact on my Super AFC, as soon as I hit 3k, thats when it stops when accelarting, and 3k is where it starts on decceration...

thanks in advance...

My tps is ******* up and doing the same thing, i checked my error codes and got a low-range TPS error...the TPS is probably your problem. Check the codes, see what you get, then look to adjust or buy a new one. Try adjusting first

thanks for the reply, thats what i figured....it all started happening after I went over a HUGE bump hard, jolted my car around.....

Ive played with the tps several time,, none with a meter..and I have gotten it a little better..i just didn't know if it would affect everything around 3k and below.....

Trust me, it sucks when the "good" part of your car running is when you are barely gassing it and flooring it.

I'm having the same problem with my check engine light coming on when I decelerate. It's also starting to idle really rough at idle after it's warmed up and now...a week after the problem started, I'm getting mini backfires. I took it to a local shop who tried to run the codes and said this scanner cut off at every attempt. Mazda gave me the run around saying that there were lots of error codes that came up, then said it was an air intake leak that they could hear, then they told me it was Code 0012, and finally they admitted that a true diagnostic was never run. So, I'm sort of at a lost and Mazda dealerships aren't abundant. Can someone let me know if the TPS worked to remedy that issue. I changed that O2 sensor thinkg it was the problem and I was told to change the EGR next...I don't have money to blow, so any advice or feedback would be great.

P.S. How do you clear engine codes? Must you diconnect the battery?
