Problem with bearing preload in my FD Torsen diff!
Hi.
I'm swapping an FD Torsen LSD into my S4 T2 and I have a little problem with the bearing preload.
It says in the FSM that they should be between 204.43mm - 204.50mm but I can't get them both between that range.
I have now adjust so one is 204.43mm and the other is 204.56mm.
If I try to turn the bearing adjusters the distance get smaller/bigger equally on both so I can't get both inside the range.
The backlash on the ring gear is OK thougt, between 0.09-0.11mm at four points around and the bearing preload is fairly tight.
So the question is, is OK that the distance between one of pilot section is 0.06mm over the FSM range or should I be worried when I put the diff back on the car?
I know that the bearing preload is important, but HOW importand?
Thanks!
