Problem.....

1986 N/A

alright so i have this car and im trying to get it running, ive pulled out the secondary injectors and tested them and they are working, so when im trying to turn it over it wont start.... alright so i figured out that the secondary injecters are not opening and letting fuel through...i know there is fuel pressure and everything too... so what could cause this to happen?
CPU maybe?
any help is appreciated thanks,

uhhh, the secondaries are for operation above ~3600RPMs, the injectors under the intake manifold are the primaries which provide fuel for cranking and idling.

Was your car running normally and suddenly died or did you buy a car that doesn't run? Please explain more about your situation. ~rich

alright my mom bought it a while back, from this u-haul place where it was being stored...so she just gave it to me for christmas......ps it was driven into the uhaul.....
so i think someone put **** in the fuel tank because the fuel pump wasnt working and ****....so i replaced the gas tank(had SOOO much rust and sediment in it) and the fuel pump(which was completely rusted)and just put in a new fuel filter today....and now there is fuel getting to the engine and everything....i checked the spark plugs and tehy are all firing....
but when im trying to turn it over it sounds like its just about to start but it wont kick in.... i just dont know where to look

sounds like it is just flooded, remove the EGI fuse(fuse nearest the engine in the bay) and crank the engine over for 20 seconds and reinstall the fuse - hold the throttle about 3/4 way and crank it over.

your secondaries arent opening because your not under load.

chances are your just flooded. search for unflooding,

I bought my parts car with a gas tank that had been sugared. Replaced everything you did and it took awhile for me to get mine started too. I mean days of trying.

Good fuel filters are supposed stop things like sugar from getting to the engine components but I don't think mine was the case. Ultimately I think the sugar clogged my cats. (sugar will liquify in gas and turns into caramel with heat.)

Quick check to see if your injectors are clogged: crack open the intake pipe and spray some gas down the intake - should fire up. Put some injector cleaner in the tank and keep trying. ~rich

P.s., do Karack's tip first.

yes neutral will work... its flooded... common problem since injectors prob. need cleaned...
listen to karack
youll see a set of fuses by the battery... pull cover of fuses... look for E.G.I fuse...
pull it.... turn key and let it try to start for about 30 sec. then replace that fuse and see if it starts... if not come back and let us know.

so should i try to unflood it like he told me first? and see if it works?
or should i pull up the primaries and clean them out, or better yet replace them?

try to unflood first with fuse... if it works it might be the injectors... THEN you can have them cleaned...
www.witchunter.com
^^^they clean them and are pretty much brand new afterwards.. careful getting them out of primaries though... lots of stuff under the manifold... try to unflood fisrt with fuse

damn link dont work... what the hell is the site im thinkin of???

so if doing that starts then it means the problem is the injectors....alright that makes sense... thanks..
found out its not the spark plugs...while testing one a shot of flame came from the chamber, so that means fuel is getting atleast to there

ACK! you may wanna read up on working on cars before you do something bad to either your car or yourself....

Crack open as in loosen the clamp that holds your intake piping to the plastic elbow attached to your throttle body and spray some gas in there. The try to start the car. Do not completely remove anything at this point!

Cleaning injectors is easy - step one is to put some injector cleaner in your tank (which you should do regardless). A more thorough cleaning would be pulling them and letting them soak overnight in some diesel or even some diesel with a hint (emphasis) of kerosene. ~rich
