Probe GT rims on a FC
ok, so I have a buddy who might be giving me his PGT rims. I know that you need spacers for FD rims, but does anyone know if you need spacers for Probe GT rims?
I don't expect you to pull the answer out of thin air. I don't know the specs on the rims except that the tires are 225/50/16s.
So if you have experience with this, or just "know" please answer. If I have to buy spacers, I'll just have them wait since I'm still short on money.

You'll end up with a 0 offset then. Don't do that. I thought the probe rims were a +50 or something. SO +20 would take you to a +30 which sounds about right.
Anyways, if you look at the back of the wheel and get its width and offset measurements, we can tell you right away what size spacer to get.

WHY!? why would you want to put Probe wheels on your 7? Maybe you'll get a little more grip once you get the spacers worked out, but then you would have fricken' Ford wheels on your car!

I decided it's too much work, so I said I didn't want them.
The reason I wanted to put them on though is because I absolutely LOVE the 93-94 Probe GT rims. The are one of the best looking factory rims ever made in my opinion. Not THE best, but one of.

These aren't from a GT but are from an earlier Probe. I had to shave a bit out of the center of the wheel for them to fit but other than that they fit perfectly. I made love to a curb with my old rims so they're sitting in the backyard now. $25 for two junkyard rims sure beats buying four new ones. At least they sorta look like rotors!

Neat! But I was talking about the 2nd Generation Ford Probe GT rims.
But it's actually cool to know that the 1st gen rims fit fine.....ofcourse 2nd gen Probe GT rims fir 1st gens fine too without spacers, but not RX-7s. Odd.

I know you said you don't want them already, but I thought I'd share my experience, since I endeavoured to do the same.
I bought a set of 93-95 rims for my 86, and tried them out. I figured they would work ok with some generic 1/4" spacers, but they will NOT fit in the front without them, and they look too far in in the rear without them. The problem with using the spacers is that you then have too little thread left for good contact on the studs. There was like 7 threads on the fronts and six on the rears, or maybe the opposite, anyway, not enough. You'd have to get longer studs, and good luck finding them. Ours are already about the longest studs for our thread and shoulder diameter. Also, you now have that much more length for the studs, and they're not supported well for 1/4" between the hub face and the wheel mounting surface, so there's a greater chance of breakage in hard turns.
I guess if someone had the right spacer and the right length studs, you'd be golden. I agree, they do look some kind of sweet. FWIW, I still have them, and may use them one day if I get the right supporting equipment.
I decided to go with 98 Cobra 17x8's instead, which are a PERFECT FIT, and MAN, does THAT look sweet!

You know, of all the things I ever took pics of with my digicam, wouldn't you know that wasn't one of them?
Maybe I can talk my cousin into taking some pics. It really looks sweet. Damn I miss that car.
