pretty sure this is my starter but give me your opinion...

well last night i went to start my car and it cranked then it all the sudden haulted to a stop. i tried to restart it and it just makes a strong clicking noise and it wont crank the engine at all, i keep trying and a couple times i hear like a soft spinning noise almost like a loud fuel pump but coming from the starter. i tried to push start it but when i pop the clutch out the back tires just lock up. i jacked it up and tried hitting the starter with a hammer and it didnt change anything and i checked the wires there all attached correctly and fine.

so... what i'm thinking is the starter is stuck engaged to the flywheel and its not letting the flywheel move. so i guess i need to replace the starter, i'm just kinda double checking what i'm thinking so let me know if i'm right or something else to check

thanks

Sounds like the engine is locked up to me... carbon lock or a stuck apex seal. if it were the starter it wouldn't crank and then come to a sudden stop. The loud click you hear is probably the bendix kicking out on the starter and the spinning noise is it trying to turn. Try removing all the accessory belts, put it in N and turn the engine backward by hand. That or maybe the clutch hydraulics have failed and you are trying to start it in gear... seems less likely to me because it stopped turning suddenly.
