precat warped inside question on dp
hi guys, sorry if this could have been found in a more thorough search, but I'm at work...
I've removed my precat from my 88TII (all emmissions intact) to find that the turbo side of it is all broken up and warped inside and likely flowing very poorly.
I'm thinking of the bonez 2.5 downpipe from rx-7.com for replacement.
- this will fit with my stock midpipe diameter?
- will I have any issues with too much boost (stock intake, 2nd cat remains) cause my fuel system is stock (just had injectors cleaned).
Thanks

One option is to gut that precat and the secondary cat, and keep the main cat intact, you'll get a nice performance increase just doing that.
Or the Bonez hi-flow cat, which will replace all of the above...

..thanks, it's a TII with only 2 cats...
I'm not real fond of the idea of gutting the cat when a dp is $137
I'm just concerned about boost levels & fitement. I'll be keeping my main cat.
More power is great, but that's just kind of a bonus for me. I just want a safe replacement for my shitty precat, and I understand the turbo will run a little cooler without it.

You should be ok if you keep your main cat. My 87 boosted 7 psi with the main cat still in. After I repaced the main cat it went to 10 psi.
