Question power window switch prob.

i just bought 2 new window switches for my 87 gxl fc and the passenger side still dose not work. i pulled every thing off and check with a light tester to see if i was getting any power. no power. the driver side operates it just fine. now my door lights dont work nor do the map lights and then door open warning light comes on when the head light come on and the doors a closed. has anyone had this prob before. any ideas or is this something that needs to goto a dealer? help just got this car going and know this.

With the key to on, check for power on the Black/Blue wire at the "driver" side switch and make sure the switch to power the passenger window switch is turned on. This wire should have battery voltage. If you have power on this wire then check for power on the Black/Blue wire located behind the passenger side kick panel at connector FDR-03 which has the following wires; B/L, G/W, B, R/W, G/R, LG and LG/R. Check for power on the side of the connector that comes from the driver's side and not the part of the harness that leads to the passenger window switch.

First things first. The B/L wire provides power from the driver switch to the passenger switch. If you don't have power at the passenger side then you need to find out why and what I suggested will provide an answer as to why it isn't receiving power.

So i did what u said and found out that there was power going to the black wire using a lite tester and the dam thing started working. i fallowed the wires from the door to the panel by your foot on the passenger side and disconnect the wires and then put them back and now it works fine i dont know how this happened but when i did this the first time it did not work at all
Any ideas or just good luck?

Could be that when you were in the process of testing the wire the harness was moved a bit along with the connector and this was enough to create a good conection between two harnesses that had been iffy. It's your twenty year old car reminding you of its age. If it continues then you'll need to do some work on the connectors otherwise enjoy the current condition while it lasts.

EDIT: There is also a corresponding connector by the drivers side and I mentioned checking two points that were on opposite sides of each other in an effort to narrow down the problem between these two points.
