put battery voltage to the plug on the regulator (under the door panel). pics are in the FSM.

You can also jump the connections on the bottom of the switch. Wire works best obviously, but I've done it with paper clips in the past. Just be careful since the metal will heat up and burn you if don't insulate it. The switch diagram is on FSM page 50-88.

i did that yesterday and nothing worked. I put the little contacts together with a wire and NOTHING happenned. Was I doing something wrong? Or should I have pulled the switch of and just stuck wires in the exposed harness?

Did you only use 1 wire? You'll need 2. You have to mimic what the switch does, which is to make both the positive and negative connections. It took some time staring at the wiring diagram and messing with the contacts before I got it working.

cool thanks... shortly after i posted this, i searched the forum and found to just tap it with a 12v source to teh motor as a temp fix.. ill have to order another switch.. i was like 40 min late but its cool.. better this go out now than actually somewhere on the road.

dam these switches are like over $40 on ebay.... i might do the MPV switches and just paint the trim to black.. i read that they might be better??

yea the mazda mpv switches are great. i have a set i got from a junkyard and its not that hard to install them.

passenger is a direct drop in, but the driver's side requires to swap the plastic harness thing. not too much trouble.

the original vert switches i have didnt work at all.

if you get the mpv switches, check to see if it clicks when you pull up and push down. i made the mistake of getting one that only clicked one way so i had to go back and get another switch.

the problem with these switches it that all the current for the window motor, and it fouls the switches. If you run a relay you and run the motor current through the relay you can save your switches.

scored a mpv drivers switch for like $1 +9shipping on ebay since no one bid on it, hope its a good one.

Figured that where i live, driving to junk yard, paying junkyard fee, etc will cost more lol. if only i can find the passanger side that cheap lol

I used to have to do this all the time.. unplug the connector and the wires for the motor are red and green. The wires with white stripes are +12V and the black or blue wire is GND. if you have two short jumper wires you can get the window up and down at the connector, by connecting the red and green to +12V and GND, reverse if window goes wrong direction

Winner! I'd rather correct a design flaw than keep replacing switches (or if you have a S4 you can rebuild them.)

I've always had my switches physically break, not electrically. The pin (white IIRC) on the bottom side of the finger switches breaks and will no longer toggle front-back to operate the motor.

As a quick fix I simply take the top off the window switch and toggle it with my finger.

Hypertek, since you've had an MPV one apart. Will an RX7 top screw down to an MPV switch control?

So far I've been fortunate in finding good deals on replacement switches, but it's always nice to know options

no the tops will not swap, the distance between the switches and the window lock switch is different, i was thinking you could hack it up, but too much work, i hope the paint looks good ill post a pic when it dries, i want a good few hours for it cure, hate to put thumb prints in it lol

mazda 323 switches might be a good candidate too

not bad for a $10 replacement... ill have to match the passanger side some time. I could probably paint the plastic for now to make it look similar
