Unhappy power window struggling

i just put in a motor and regulator that i found in the junkyard. i thought that it worked ok. i plugged in the power supply once, and the part that holds the window went down to the bottom of the regulator. i assumed that this meant that the motor works. when i have everything put together however (door panel in place, switch plugged in, power plugged in) the regulator seems to be struggling to move the window up. the window looks like it is withing the guides. could the motor be weak? anybody want to give me their 2 cents?

Most likely, the switch is the problem. The circuit is poorly designed, as the full current of the window motor goes through the contacts of the switch. That causes corrosion and burned contacts.
You can disassemble the switch and clean the contacts, or there is a pretty good mod which puts 30amp relays in between the switch and the motors. Takes the current load out of those wimpy switches and puts it where it belongs.

Here's the story

I found suitable relays here:

Good Luck!
