power window problem

hey i have an 87 gxl and i just hit 86k. I have elecric windows, and today, ou of nowhere, i turn on my car and the window won work. I dont hear the motor working, so i woul assume that it just died, bu it was running pretty rough on the track, any chance a good motor and a bad track would compleely freeze the window??

im willing to take the door apart and clen the rack and what not, bu if it sounds like my motor is out, id raher switch to manual

any imput??

Switch or fuse

Most likely it is your power window switch gone bad. Take it apart and clean the contacts.

check the fuse, then...like Micheal said the switches are an issue usually. You can just pry it out and unplug it. take it apart and clean the contacts real well. That's all it took to get both of mine going again.

*Edit...HAHA...I repeat info real good!

After you clean the switch (if it is NOT broken inside) clean the window tracks. And if you are feeling really frisky, you can take the pwr motor assembly out and clean and degrease the motor and cable. If you do this I recommend that you re-lubricate with white assembly lube.
