Power window problem

I'm mechanically incompetant but this may be simple. My 88 vert power windows work -- EXCEPT the driver's window goes down fine, but only goes up intermittently. I usually have to "help" it get started -- then it goes up. This started a few weeks ago. I've read that cleaning the switch contacts often helps. Here's the dumb question -- can I get to the contacts by just pulling out the switch -- and is there a "trick" to doing this so I don't break the switch plate or mechanism? Would I be better off replacing the switch? If this doesn't work, do you recommend I see a mechanic or a window glass specialist?

Thanks!

you can take your door panel off and then push out the switch like that and while you have it off you can greace up the regulator, it helps alot. you can re solder the wires on the switch too.

The switch lifts up out ot the door pocket.
There is a spring clip on each end.

Be extra careful when opening the switch.
Note where the springs, plungers, & contact rockers go.
You will see the burned & dirty contact rockers.
