Power Steering Pressure Switch

I replaced the power steering pump on my 91 base model and noticed I'm missing the pressure switch cable and connector. What exactly does the pressure switch do and how detrimental is it not to have it?

your car is going to throw a low power steering light, other than annoyance and the fact that you wont know if you're leaking i think you're fine
