power steering>manual prep
I did some searching, read some of the archives and I've got a few questions.
A friend (88 base) wants to trade his manual steering rack for my (89 gtu) power steering rack.
The question is: Is it possible to put the power rack in his car and have it function properly.

with all the power boost functions??? no, not exactly.
The S4 cars used a vehicle speed sensing power steering, while the 89 GTU (and most of the other S5 no turbo FCs) used engine speed sensing steering.
You might be able to get the S5 engine speed sensing power steering rack to work with a S4 power steering computer, but it would take some re-wiring, and you would need to make sure that his base model has the power steering harness in the car (and of course add the pump, lines, and computer)
