power asist brakes caused engine to act as if it has a blown apex seal
my breakes always seemed like there was no assist to them. took al i got to slow the car down. so one day i was driving down the road coming home and i feel rezistance as if the breaks r on. im not pressing them. I pump the breaks softly thinking its a stuck rear caliper or something. doesnt fix it. by the time im somewhere i can pull over the breaks got instantly close to full clamp and it causes my new rebuild to "bog". instantly i let off the gas. i coast to a imeadiate stop because bakes were stil on and i put it in nutral to get out of the car. before i open the door the car dies with no atempt to recover. i am like i just blew an apex seal. panic. then i try to start it starts up first try and runs rough as hell. i raise the rpms and it slowly smooths out. thats what i read is a symptom of a bad engine is later that night. the higher the rpm the better it smoothed out. i let it try to idel doesnt even try and dies. i am 2 blocks from home and i have a relitive towe it. the next morning i get up and coem otu to it and the breaks r stil draging. it was both fronts. i replace the ballancer and they r free again. the weird thing was that after doing that i disconected the vaccum line to the power assist breaks because i wanted to see if it felt diffrent to determin if they worked or not. and capped it at the engine. then i start the engien and it is back to normal. all i can think of is that a leak in my break chamber caused my engien to die like that but i still dont understadn why that caused both fronts to lock up? or why both fronts lockign up caused my vak leak??
