Power Antenna Problem

Power Antenna Problem
I installed a new aftermarket reciever CD player a long time ago. I had never bothered fixing the antenna problem until today (apparently Mazda antennas before 1992 required a - signal to operate). So I installed a relay today to fix this problem. I had a pdf explaining this on my computer, but I have no idea where I got it from.
After installing the relayI still don't hear the antenna working when turning the radio on/off. Is the motor shot?

if it worked before, it should still work, but double check you don't ahve a blown fuse for the power ant.
Also the relay should be wired with your aftermarket radio's power antenna wire (usually blue) or amp turn on wire going to pin 86 of the relay, with pins 85 and 30 of the relay going to ground, and pin 87 of the relay going to Mazda factory Blue/white power antenna lead.

take your deck out. take the stock ant. wire. and touch it to ground and see if it goes up. that way you know it's not a deck / relay problem.
car might have to be "on" for it to work? can't remeber. check your fuses as above. mines not even hooked up I hate it. I never use the radio anyways.

85 and 30 to ground? Hmm, I'll have to go switch those and see if that helps. The sheet I have says 85 and 87 to ground and 30 to the stock power antenna wire (which is actually blue/yellow in my car).
The bummer is I don't remember if it quit working after the reciever install or before, but I know it worked once in the past.
No blown fuses. So, that's not an issue.

30 and 87 are interchangeable, so if one is on ground and the other is on the mazda factory power ant Blu/wht, it should be fine.
Scott is right, you next test will be to ground the factory blu/wht... the ant should go up when you do that.
If it deosn't then get someone to stick their ear next to the motor when ground it so that you can see if the motor is working

Fixed, well almost. Verified that the antenna motor was working by grounding the stock antenna wire. Checked my connections at the relay and I had goofed and switched two. Put them back in the right place and I can hear the antenna motor running when the radio is turned on/off.
Only problem is the antenna doesn't go up. The mast needs to be replaced. So, essentially, problem solved.
