I am happy about this thread guys.. It's turning out to be informative and sobering for that matter...
Preaching safety!
So far we have learned to maybe keep a fire extinguisher handy for any moded cars, those engine swaps and bad PDs!
And remember to always wear your seatbelt!

50 mph over the limit in the city! Isn't that like where they take you out of your car and beat you, then impound your car while revoking your licsence?
Sigh... If anyone ever deserved a speeding ticket, it was me on that day.

("I wonder how fast I can go in 3rd?")

Dumb ***... Save it for the Track....

thats not too bad at least he let you go.

my story about speed is a lucky one, i woulda been taken to jail and had my car blown up lol. this Chevy truck with, 454SS, on the tailgate kept passing me and slowing down behind me, passing me and slowing down. Finally i got tired of his ****. I started accelerating in 3rd from 60mph, down the first hill i was at 120mph, went up the next hill in 4th up to 130, shifted to 5th and proceeded to peg the speedo at 150 down the next hill, in a 40mph zone, that woulda been bad lol. He then stopped at the light and revved on me again, so i blew his *** away from the light as well.

My scary story is when i was in the same car as that 150mph run, i was late coming home and didnt want to get yelled at, 120mph on bald tires up a curvy road with no prior skidding or driftin experience, not knowing how to control it, is a bad idea lol. needless to say, i induced a braking drift, since i didnt know about drifting i had no idea what i was doing, i slid sideways for about 80 feet, straightened it out, then slid for another 90 feet before straightening out and slamming headfirst into a tree, the state police told me i hit with an impact speed of 95-100mph. I walked away with a perfect imprint of a seatbelt in me, and the vin number up in and behind my eyelid, my buddy as a passenger walked away with just a seat belt bruise. The bruises were funny because you could see every detail of the seat belt lol. Got a wreckless driving ticket 3 months later which i got off my record by going to teen court.

seat belts are good for your health needless to say, i dont drive that fast anymore, and ive learned lots of skills since then. that road plus the local mountain pass are my best friends now

That's great! Mines not FC related but gold indeed! I was crusing down US 19/41, in the middle of "Bumfuk" Georgia. I have never seen a cop on this road. Low-and-behold the day I am running late to class and doing 80 in the 55 zone I get pulled over... By state patrol. As he wlaks up I pop the window and before he can speek I pipe up:
"I know what you wnat officer."
He says, "Oh really son, what's that?"
"You what me to buy a ticket to the Policeman's Ball."
He sneers at me an bellows as he fixes his belt "son State Troops don't have '*****'." Before I can speek He turns a brighter color red than I have ever seen a human look, about-faces back to his car, shuts off his lights and takes off around me chuckling. Not ticket, no warning, he didn't even beat me like an LA cop (as would be expected.)
True story!

The craziest experience for me was when I floored it on first gear while turnin and was thinkin it be like FWD but nope I spun out like crazy, lucky it was a big 4 lane neighborhood. 8P After I dat day, I started drifting and no problemo.

I havent done too mcuh dumb crap in my FC, yet lol. Worst thing I've probably done was at an RX-7 meet in Minneapolis last April. As I was getting ready to leave I figure I should warm up the car a little bit. Now normally I prefer to leave the car in neutral and pull the handbrake to park it, but my dad likes to leave it in gear. Of course me, being the retard that I am, forgot that it was in gear (my dad drove it to the meet) and as I go to start it I wasnt paying a whole lot of attention to what I was doing, I think I was talking to someone. Anyway, thinking its in neutral I start it like normal, turn the key and rev it a little once it gets going. As I start to get out of the car however, I take my foot off the clutch, thinking its in neutral. Keep in mind the car was parked in a parking lot up against a sidewalk. Luckily I was able to jam my foot on the brake right away and the car only went a foot or two, and no one was in front of me. To make matters worse I them proceeded to blame my dad for having the shift **** twisted sideways. Leson learned there, I always check it now.

ALWAYS check neutral before taking your foot off the clutch. I've learned the hard way too. Didn't hit anything, but set off a few car alarms.

Funny thing is my pop does the same thing. Hope he doesn't ever drive my FC, the shifter is so sloppy it looks like it's in neutral when it's in first.

Just today I left it in gear at the wendy's drive through. I was reaching for my soda and took my foot of the clutch. WHAM! I felt like an idiot.

I leave the Stang in gear when I park it... course the parking brake doesn't work...

So yeah... I bought my FC from someone up in Ohio and on the trip back to Oklahoma we stopped at my grandparents farm in Iowa and I was driving around looking for a nice spot for some pictures. I was heading up a small gravel round that goes up between some of the fields and came up over a hill and ran smack into a large mud hole. I threw it in 2nd and tried to turn around but just got stuck. I had to have my Grandfather tow me out w/ the tractor.

And then... The day after I got back was a Monday and I went to school and work etc etc... The next day I got out of school and was heading to work. It was like 3:30 and I didn't have to be at work till 4 so I decided to stop by the dentist cuz my mommy was there and I needed her to sign something for school. I was in the left lane on a four lane street waiting for traffic to pass so I could make a left turn. I had been sitting for abot 5-7 seconds when I feel a massive smack and everything goes black for just a second. The next thing I remember is opening my eyes and see my blinker blinking. I have my foot on the brake but the car is stalled and I'm still confused as to what happened etc. The guy who hit me is yelling from his car "Pull over! Are you okay? Pull into that street!" I pull over get out of my FC and he pulls up behind me in his damn '95 Jeep Cherokee w/ a damn brush gaurd on the front... We get out looking at the damage, "are you okay", etc. I'm looking at the crunched rear end of my FC and look at his Jeep. He licks his finger and wipes my paint off of his brush gaurd. I didn't know at the time but he totaled my FC.

Sorry kinda long ^

I'm still sore to this day.

3 days after I get it on the road... I go to the store to buy a bottle of pop.

Driving through a residential neighbourhood around a sharp corner at about 30km/h, I hit a pothole and the passanger side ball join sepearats. I lose control and smack a tree.

2 months later, driving on the 401 at about 105mph, all of the sudden the steering goes funny.. I get on the brakes and think I got a flat, pull over.. no, the passanger side front wheel is sitting at a 45deg angle.
I drive about 5 miles to a gas station (at like 15mph, it took forever) and get the wheel off (with NO lug wrench, had to "borrow" one out of the back of a pickup). The top mounting bolt for the hub assembly was missing! I bought a bolt and some nuts ($6.85!!!) and drove home, only to discover that the brake line was wrecked, too. drove home using just the ebrake so that I didn't **** brake fluid out every time (almost 100 miles!). fixed in the next day. SCARY getting slowed down from that speed though.

last october:
Driving home on the 401 (again) about 50 miles from anywhere the transmission dies. it was COLD that day, too. Got towed and got it fixed over the winter

You wanna see something crazy? THis is a tragedy - I drove my blown motor rx to Kansas City International Raceway to meet a friend with a B20/B16 CRX Turbo. There's an FC up there with all these stupid NO PISTONS and HIGH BOOST and about too many other stickers and he's all actin cool and trying to impress everyone by revving his stock exhaust engine. After all this show, he gets up and runs a whopping 17.2... I don't usually cry, but i just couldn't help it... LoL... it had a huge wing too...

Mine are kinda long, so bear with me.
My worst FC experience was when I had to get my engine rebuilt. Basically, the coolant seals went out and I kept putting it off, and I ended up with a crack in the enplate. I took it to Pro Tech in Austin because Rotary Performance recently started only working on FD's. They gave me nothing but bullshit for 3 months. First, the guy that was going to work on it was fired (which may have happened, I'm not sure) so the owner had to do it. Then he said that he had done everything and check the enplate before re-assembling it, and noticed a crack in the faceplate. Apparently he forgot about it in the 2 months since he told me about it the first time. Then he said he couldn't find a good endplate. It had been three months at this point, so I basically told him to screw off, and took it to Alamo Rotary in San Antonio. He already 4 endplates ready to use and had the port job done by the time the car got there, so the car was out within 4 days of getting there. It also turns out that Pro Tech had "forgotten" to send the exhaust manifold with the rest of the car, plus the speedo gear on the tranny was missing (which meant the tranny was removed, costing me even more in labor.) One good thing came out of all this though. My car doesnt have A/C, so I had my brother's car from June into September.
The weirdest thing that happened to me, though, was getting stopped twice in less than 5 minutes for an expired registration. The guy I bought it from only used it on the track, and since he only lived about 5 minutes from Texas World Speedway he never got the registration renewed. So the morning after I bought the car, I was driving around and got pulled over even though I did nothing wrong. It turns out that the registration expired in October (it was April at this point) so I had a bright orange sticker on my car when it should have been blue. After getting a ticket for that, I went back home and was pulled over again about 2 miles away.

I had only had my '91 NA for a short time, and one of my sons was visiting me. So being a generous mom, I let him run his friend home in it, so he could experience a little RX joy, and show off to his friend. On the way, a drunk driver crossed 3 lanes on the freeway, hit one car and then plowed into my RX and crushed in the passenger side, pushing it off the shoulder into the ditch. The police, even tho the guy was obviously drunk, didn't ticket him. (Which precipitated a 2 month long investigation by my insurance co., the final result of which, the guy got toasted and I got a big settlement). So about 2 hours after son was not back from a 20 min. trip, I begin to get a funny feeling. Finally, he shows up, all strained, and has 2 beers in hand. He hands me the beer and says, "Mom, this is for you. I have some bad news." At that point, I know what is coming. By the time he finishes his story, I'm on my bed crying like someone has died. That's a cool thing about being a woman enthusiast...you can cry when something happens to your RX.
My RX was completely restored, and you would never know anything had ever happened to it. It's in beautiful condition. Moral...never, ever let anyone drive your RX.

Thats really sad. The first time I took my car to the track it ran a mid 16 or so (I dont remember exactly, its been a while) and that was with 215k on the engine, bad plugs, and crappy tires. I know my car has stuff done to it, but it was still just a N/A with nothing done to the actual engine (Only power adders were straight exhaust and a cone filter). I guess that goes to show that the more stickers and the bigger wing, the slower the car. I realize this isn't true if its an actual race car or where the stickers are for mods it has (Mazdaspeed, Apex'i, etc) but it generally holds true. How fast were stock FC's when they were new, anyway?

I fishtailed turning left from a stop sign in the rain. I immediately corrected though (thanks to my mad skillz on GT3 with the steering wheel! lol). This is the most extreme I've ever gotten.

Just thought of another weird thing that happened a month or so ago. It was about 1:00 AM and I was getting in new tires the next day since my current tires were bald, so I decided to burn off my current tires in a parking lot outside of town. After a minute or so, I heard a strange whapping sound, and it turned out the tread was coming off. The tread was so thin on the inside of the tires that it started coming off in about a half inch wide strip. It was down to the carcass and several feet wide by the time I stopped. I've never seen anything like that happen to a tire before. I ended up having to drive the 20 or so miles back to my house at about 45 because I wasn't sure if the spare could take much faster.

I had a worn tire and spun out and almost hit a bus turning left. I got a little hot on the pedal, and the *** end just FLEW out! I forgot my base was the one with the bad tires (I had 2, a base and a gxl).....Boy did I feel stupid......
