Post RB header/presilencer install questions...

I have an 89 gxl and I have dual ebay N1's on a catback made by a local shop. I just replaced my stock manifold/bonez racepipe combo with a racing beat header and presilencer combo, and I have a few questions.

1) My car doesnt shoot fire anymore... Well.. at least it doesnt Pop... How come?

2) The car feels slower in the top end... (Could be my imagination) but.. Could the 5/6 ports not me functioning anymore, from some kind of problem with the install? The AVC was removed and put back so I could get to all the bolts easier..

3) The car sounds great, Loud and deep... Untill about 4 grand.. Than it goes super rice and is raspy as all hell... Is that normal? It didnt do that with the racepipe. I can controll the raspyness.. like.. if I slowly bring it up to say 5 grand with about 1/4 throttle.. it stays deep. But.. If I floor it right off the bat.. Than its super raspy..

Any Ideas are welcome. What are some things I can do to troubleshoot this?

Im thinking something got messed up on the install, cuase this all doesnt sound normal. But, I douple checked everything any all seems fine.

Thanks

-Adam

1)So?
2)They could be taking longer to open because of sub-par mufflers not holding back enough flow at the right RPM level
3) You get what you pay for brother. Any car with a header will see increases in volume and noise, cheap fart cans will magnify this.

Why didn't you block off your ACV? You should have, its doing nothing for you.

U should've gotten the whole RoadRace system & gotten rid of the acv & airpump stuff. The RR header has a tube to run your actuators. Mine sounds great with no metallic rasp. Deep roar & then high-revin' heaven. I noticed an increase around 5.5-7K RPM's.

OH damn i see you're using this on an S5. Get an S4 hearer with the pressure tube or an S4 silencer. Use that for the aux ports and VDI and it will do you good without the AP/ACV and rats nest junk.

I'll post it on this thread too since it's a double post

I don't think it's the install. I installed an RB header last week also. I have an RP high flow cat and unknown brand n1 style mufflers. The exhaust sounds exactly like yours. Above 4k rpm's it becomes raspy and kinda metallic sounding. I am not liking the sound at all. The car does run better though. I notice it has more low end power and it revs up faster. Top end has not suffered, if anything maybe inproved a bit over the stock manifold. I have only taken it on a spirited run once since installed.. I still hit 110 in third gear.. so it seems to be fine.

Glad you made it back to the USA 1987RX7guy.
