Just installed mine today!

Another shitty picture, but I just finished it an hour ago. Yes, that's 3 months worth of dust on the hood. Don't drive it from Oct. to Apr. cuz of the damned Ohio winters.

Both guages are black faced, orange light to match the instruments!

rx7-rage,

I got the Autometer sport comp Boost and A/F guages. The bezels come in brushed silver stock, so I painted them satin black. The boost guage is backlit and came with a red bulb cover which looks orange when installed. The a/f guage is not back-lit so the only light it has are the lights from the meter itself.

I'll post some night pics for you as soon as I get the A/F guage hooked up.

Mike

it's an autometer dual pod. and the exhaust temp gauge is mounted in a custom mount I made that sits above that little triangle vent.

Mechanical gauges have the oil go right to the back of the gauge. That way when the line breaks your car fills up with hot oil. Mechanical temp work some what the same way. Electric gauges use a remont sender at the engine that sends a signal to the gauge telling it what to do. I think that Electric are the best.

Erik

I just ran the wires and supplied nylon vaccum tube out the bottom of the pod. I mounted it as low on the a-pillar as I could. There is less than a centimeter between the pod and the dash top, so i wrapped about an inch in black electrical tape. Looks great!

I ran the boost guage wires to the cig. lighter illumination ring so it will dim with the dash lights. The vacuum tube was run through the grommet by the brake booster and around to be t-ed in at the boost sensor tube near the passenger front wheel well. The A/F power and ground were run straight down to the fuse block/body ground. The O2 sensor wire was run through the same grommet as the vaccum line and then spliced into the O2 wire near the connector below the BAC valve.

If your looking for a shorter way to route the dimmer power wire from the gauge. You can route it straight to the dimmer wire where it comes out of the dimmer. I can get the wire for you if want. I don't have my wiring diagram.

I mounted my oil pressure gauge in a unique place. It is hanging below the vent that is on the door. It is in a pod and looks rather nice. I only had to run two wires thru the door. The wire for the oil pressure and the dimmer power wire. I was able to get the 12v gauge power, ground for the light and gauge in the door by splicing into the wiring for the power window.
