I'd definitely be interested. If it's comparable in price/easier to install/doesn't rattle I'd probably drop the money to get one.

Valkirie, you make some good points, but for the sake of keeping on topic, could we try not to argue in the thread?

You don't want the shifter to be shorter (e.g. by cutting it) as that moves it further from the steering wheel. A proper short shifter (or short-throw shifter) leaves the **** at the same height.
The popular name "short shifter" is wrong anyway, it's really a short-throw shifter.

A proper short shifter requires more work too, you can't avoid that.

An idea: Perhaps you might consider making the shifter adjustable... (so you can change the shift **** position)

mookeeh makes a short throw and so does rotary performance. rotary admits that the short throw shifter can rattle and make unwanted noises. mookeeh improves distance 60% while rotary performance improves 45%. if you can make the short throw less than $195(rotary performance), maybe price maxed at $120. then im in. no question. especially if it will work on aftermarket shift *****.

I'd love to get a short shifter, but its not at the top of my list. First I have to rebuild my engine and get a megasquirt. Maybe if I win the lottery. Or get a large bonus this December.....

It's the "design changes" that pique my interest.
I have an eBay $40 "Miata" ss kit and after an afternoon of tweaking, it works beautifully and is rattle free.
Aaron's mysterious setup (don't recall ever seeing/hearing specifics) and now your (potentially) upgraded design sound interesting (if only from an intellectual standpoint) and I'd be in for one if the design looked more elegant than the typical aluminum doughnut with a roll pin pivot.

Even easier, it's the size of the plastic or nylon or whatever bushing that goes on the ball, a little sanding and it'll fit right in for under $50.

I'd rather have a cheap mass-produced item than something that is an expensive hand-machined piece...
+1, but I'm a cheapass, so paying $50-100 more for a pretty brandname sticker to not put on my car anyway isn't worth it.

Personally, I can feel the gears engage with the stock shifter, but either way... the only reason I feel a short shifter would be necessary is because 5th gear would be hard to reach when using a racing harness.
It's really not hard to reach, because I use a racing harness instead of the seatbelt at all times (440lb springs - with a shoulder belt I hit my head over bumps in the road at speed). But after driving a short shifter once, the Rx7 shifter feels like you're driving a truck. (Ironically, the NA tranny I found out later is the one they used in the B-series pickups)

Alright guys, looks like this one isn't going to happen.

Too much cross-talk.

After the last few parts I've convinced the bosses to make for these cars have met with nobody actually buying anything, and a lot of complaining, I'm actually not that inclined to try and convince them to listen to me and make another one at the moment. Maybe on something in the future that people are more interested in.

Consider the short shifter dead. Sorry I tried to bring out new parts for your cars
