possible blown coolant seal?

possible blown coolant seal?
I think i might have a possible blown coolant seal when I drive my car it drives fine full power and stuff but it runs a hair above halfway on the coolant temp. When i turn my car off all **** breaks loose... There is a mass leakage of coolant - half a jug of a coolant bottle coming from what seems to be the back of the engine block and it only leaks when i turn the car off. Any ideas as to what my problem is? A week before there was a problem with the coolant coming back to the coolant resivor (blown coolant seal?) but that was fixed with some magic coolant seal that i bought at the auto store. Could this just be a possible coolant line leak a blown coolant seal or something just out of the blue wrong? My car is a 1988 gtu with 68k and no smoke is coming from it either. - please help - Gabe Medo

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Back of the engine...well, it could be a blown coolant seal, but they usualy dont leak externaly, at least not externally from the back. Possibly but real unlikely. More likely is a blown hose...the one coming from the top of the back of the block, up to the back of the throttle body, or the driver side heater hose coming from the firewall to below the oil filter, are both common culprits.
In general, to check water seal strength, you let he car cool, remove the filler cap, fill it(as full as possible) with water, leave th cap off, and crank the car, observing for a guyser shooting out of the filler neck. Some spillage is ok, but if it comes out with force then compression is forcing water out, meaning bad water seals. IF not, then you just have a plain old leak somewhere.
