Unhappy Positive stereo ground wire

so, i have been running a Pioneer 4000UB stereo deck with a 300x4 Rockford Fosgate Punch amp, with two 10" subwoofers, and suddenly, one morning i start it up, and the stereo cuts out. every once in a while it would come on, but not stay on long. i have figured out it has positive ground. what causes this or how can i fix it? i would really like to get the stereo working in my 7 again

Are you sure its a positive ground? Positive ground is when the power cables are switched with the ground cables. Check if yoyr amps are in protect mode. If the stereo system was Installed correctly and your negative cable on the battery goes to a ground then I would check the wiring harness connections where its plugged into the factory harness. They are known to have very bad conections and a slight bump could pull them past their connection point. And trace your rem and rca cable and make sure its not broken

sounds like maybe one of your power wires is shorting to ground. i would check the splices in the back of the head unit and also make sure your ground wire has a good ground to start off. looks like schaft beat me to it!!

i tested it with a test light, which turned on when i hit the ground screw. also the interior (dome/hatch) lights no longer work, i think it could be comeing from the same issue?

Test lights and stereoscopic usually don't along well, is the sound just cutting out or are you loosing power completely, check a fuse for the dome lights.

the whole stereo cuts completely off, while the amp still works. needless to say my dad tried using the test light on a 220V system the other day, and it is fried now anyway. which fuse is the dome lights?

Okay since it's cutting completely off, you need to check and probly redo the connection at the red, yellow and black wires

what kind of test light was it anyway? one color or two? better ones light up green/red for +, -. if the stereo is cutting out your amp will too, if you wired it correctly to the remote wire. is it saving memory on the deck? such as time and track?

edit: saw that u said the stereo is cutting off but the amp still stays on...thats not right. something is wired wrong, or you have a bad connection on your faceplate. if the face plate is loose you will lose the connection to the deck therefore shutting it off but keeping your amp on.

the test light WAS two-color (red/green) the headunit is keeping memory. what i meant about the amp is that the power light stays on, (oviously no sound comes out, because there is no input) the test light was lighting up red, too

I have never had a problem with the faceplate, and put it in my pickup to try it, but that was not the problem

If the amp stays on either the remote is connected to a live cables or part of the power cable has freyedand is touchingthe remote. Since the head unit.is keeping power that means the power cable responsible for.that is correct, cant remember if its yellow or red, do a quick test for me, if the head has a removable face to it, when the stereo is off push the.face back with a little pressure but not much, this will see if there's a bad connection between the face and unit. Next see if.you can push the on or source button to see if its just shutting down or lossing connection.
