Thumbs up Porting the engine

Hi, I have a general quesiton about porting the engine. I have a n/a and I want to port it, can I keep the orignal part of the engine and just change the port and make a stronger rotary?

thanks.

Not sure what "original part" your talking about. Check the F.A.Q section as many of your Q&A will be found there. Good luck!

yes you can keep the orignal engine components but you do have to rip the engine apart to port it
good luck and 7 speed

Man, I'm lost. Try refining your question.

I'm assuming your question is "Do I have to buy anything else to port my engine?"

The answer is no, if your engine is in good shape with reusable irons, its a matter of making the port larger while at the same time changing your intake timing to your preference (might mean as little as possible). The more air it flows, the stronger your engine will pull. And the more gas it will burn.

Assuming you're talking about the Housings that you are porting (side housings and mid housing) Yes you HAVE to keep those........lol wouldnt make any sense to port them and then replace them haha.

And just for the record, you have 500+ posts....so why are you asking this now, that kind of question is for people with like 3 posts and get bashed by the Search ****'s

Go to this site and read the FAQ's on porting.... http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq.htm

They also sell a video (http://www.mazdatrix.com/newproducts.htm) on how to port and so does PineappleRacing. Porting requires a rebuild of the engine. See the same site for approx cost of rebuild parts....eeeek!
