Port To Stock Flapper Or More? + Exhaust ??'s

Ok, few more things here. First and foremost, when I get my wastegate ported, should I go to the stock flapper or get a new one and go bigger? Whats the best size for mostly just intake and exhaust stuff, and what are the benifits of having it smaller or bigger.

My planned setup as of now is this:

- A'pexi intake
- Racing Beat 3 or 2.5" DP + PS
- Walbro 255
- S-AFC
- New Gauges
- Eventually Racing Beat Cat-Back

As for my exhaust, what are the pros and cons of going 2.5" vs. 3" for the downpipe and presilencer? Would going with the 2.5" give me a safer setup to work with, or doesn't it matter? I've heard also that if I did enough intake and exhaust stuff, and went with the 3" exhaust, and did something like a TID mod, I would need the wastegate ported more than the stock flapper. Can anyone give me advice on the setup and what needs to be done?

Bigger is better in this situation. If you port it smaller you may limit your control over your boost in the future. If you port it to the max with a new, bigger flapper you may never have boost creep problems again. All you need is a boost controller and you can turn it up to down (back to stock levels). I say go for the full 3". If you are going to port your wg just do it once and port as large as you can with a larger flapper and you wont have to worry about it again. By not porting it with a bigger flapper you may limit yourself in the future and may have to repull the turbo and do it all over again.

That's my 2 cents

Would there be any negative effects of having such a big ported wastegate before I did any more mods?

only one flapper on the s5 turbo.

the bigger the better. Port the **** out of it. You'll thank us in fourth gear in 30 degree weather, heh.

One thing that has not been mentioned is porting the wastegate larger than the size of the flapper door. It can be done, but I think is a half *** method, and it also slows boost response.

Its an S5. So just porting as much as possible to the stock flapper would be good for any intake/exhaust mods I ever plan to do?

If you go full 3inch, it would be a good idea to port bigger than the 2 wg passages on an S5 turbine housing. I have no experience with 2.5inch systems though.

With the TID mod and no catalytic converter on a 3inch exhaust system, you will creep if you port only up to the stock flapper door size. Even ported to the most extreme, it might creep... depends on your environment and in what situation you're in. The stock turbine housing wastegate passages are not very well designed... It just depends how much it'll creep. I would think up to 10lbs is ok on the stock fuel system though.
