Pop Up headlights on a switch?
Pop Up headlights on a switch?
So iam rewiring my rx7 and getting rid of all factory switches and wiring (race car) and i was wondering how to wire the pop up headlight motor to a switch?
The Red wire at the switch supplies voltage from the retractor fuse. When this wire passes voltage to the Red/Yellow wire at the switch the headlights should stay down. When the Red wire supplies voltage to the Red/Blue wire at the switch the headlights should pop up.
so to make them go up your supplying a constant 12v source and to make them go down your supplying a constant 12v as well? Just to diff wires of course.
Iam not using the factory switch iam just going to use a toggle

i was going to wire it to a 5 pin relay like so
30 - signal (switch )
85 - ground
86 - feed
87 - high beam
87 a - low beam
Flip switch to on, it triggers pole 30, witch cuts power to pole 87A and puts 12v to pole 87. Is that correct?

yes and no, what you describe in the post above will work with high and low beans but the retractor motors work via 5 wire like a window regulator.
you can easily use two 451m relays for that or 4 bosche style relays.

I made a mistake by stating the Red wire is fed by the retractor fuse as it's fed by the head fuse. The retractor fuse is fed to the headlight motor via the White/Green wire. You can leave the W/G and Black ground wire as is and focus on the other wires to activate the headlight motors.
You mean up position and down position?
86 and 30 = 12v
85 = to switch, other end of switch grounded
87 = up
87a = down
This way, when the switch is off, the headlights stay down.
